(showing only the flash, which is not as spectacular, lighting up the smoke haze).<\/p>\n<p>Attached find a google map of the Kaslo, Meadow Creek, BC area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The American Meteor Society estimates it terminated over Meadow Creek, BC. \u00a0(Meadow Creek is 30km North of\u00a0Kaslo along Kootenay Lake, or about 70km North of Nelson)<\/p>\n<p><em>More than 90 fireball reports from 6 states (CA and USA)<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The AMS has received over\u00a090 reports\u00a0so far about of a fireball event seen above the state of British Columbia (Canada) on September 4th, 2017 around 10:14pm PDT (September 5th, 2017 ~ 05:14 Universal Time). The fireball was seen primarily from British Columbia but was also seen from Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as from Washington, Idaho and Montana. According to our latest estimated trajectory, the fireball traveled in a southeast to northwest direction entering the atmosphere near the small city of Boswell and terminating near Meadow Creek, British Columbia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpt from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/2017\/09\/british-columbia-fireball-september-4th-2017\/\">https:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/2017\/09\/british-columbia-fireball-september-4th-2017\/<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/members\/imo_view\/browse_reports?event=PENDING\">http:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/members\/imo_view\/browse_reports?event=PENDING<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The American Meteor Society site has reports\u00a0from Bowen Island\u00a0BC,\u00a0Spokane Washington, Calgary Alberta, Claresholm, Alberta, \u00a0Vanscoy Saskatchewan, Post Falls Idaho, Creston BC, Nelson BC, Troy Montana\u00a0etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>I caught the fireball\u00a0flash\u00a0on my dash\u00a0cam in Cranbrook at\u00a011:11pm MDT. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a couple of frames\u00a0taken from Cranbrook by King Street,\u00a0looking West,\u00a0before and after. \u00a0You can see the \u201cCRANBROOK\u201d sign lit up by the flash on the left. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t hear any thunder in Cranbrook. \u00a0Looks like it fell\u00a0around\u00a0Creston or Nelson. \u00a0People report hearing a sonic boom in Creston, and it rattled the windows in Nelson and Riondel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Note my dashcam\u00a0clock is on Pacific time,\u00a0says 22:10; which is\u00a023:11\u00a0MDT, since it\u2019s a minute slow).\u00a0\u00a0So UT that would be Sep 5 at\u00a005:11.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Comments:<\/p>\n<p>Susan from Riondel, BC mentioned \u201cThere was a tremendous flash, an bright orange and yellow ball, then about 30 seconds later a continuous loud rumbling noise.\u00a0 The sound lasted a long time, and the ground shook.\u201d\u00a0 For a second she thought it might be the North Koreans sending an atomic bomb, it was that loud.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rick Nowell<\/p>\n<p>Astronomy Lab Tech<\/p>\n<p>College of the Rockies<\/p>\n<p>2700 College Way<\/p>\n<p>Cranbrook, BC<\/p>\n<p>V1C 5L7<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEE ALL LATEST DISCUSSIONS ON OUR FORUM :\u00a0http:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/?page_id=657&amp;view=forum&amp;id=8 The Cranbrook College of the Rockies meteor camera tracked last night\u2019s fireball high over Nelson and Kootenay Lake.
