It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of astronomy and science in Prince George and the neighbouring Northern Canadian communities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">RASC Prince George Centre employs three methods of meteor detection<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DETECTION USING AN FM CARRIER FREQUENCY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-264\" src=\"https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/dscn0030small.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"400\" height=\"255\" \/><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The RASC Prince George Centre has implemented a meteor detection project using information obtained from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skyscan.ca\/\">Sky Scan Science Awareness Project<\/a> and a program called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiosky.com\/skypipeishere.html\">Radio-SkyPipe.<\/a> Two FM automobile radios tuned to 98.7 MHz, a Yagi antenna, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jcoppens.com\/ant\/qfh\/index.en.php\">Quadrifilar Helicoidal antenna,<\/a> enable us to collect data and present it here in graph form.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-265\" src=\"https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepicFV.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Latest Radio-SkyPipe data\" width=\"745\" height=\"261\" style=\"border: 0;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepicFV.jpg 745w, https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepicFV-300x105.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-266\" src=\"https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepic.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"745\" height=\"261\" style=\"border: 0;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepic.jpg 745w, https:\/\/bcmeteors.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/skypipepic-300x105.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DETECTION USING A TV CARRIER FREQUENCY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The RASC Prince George Centre Observatory has associated itself with the International meteor detection organization called <a href=\"http:\/\/217.169.242.217\/rmob\/pages\/liveradiometeorpage.php\">Radio Meteor Observatories On Line.<\/a> Using the programs Spectrum Lab and Colorgramme RMOB lab, along with an ICOM IC-PCR1000 receiver tuned to Channel 3 video carrier frequency 61.240 MHz, we are able to collect data and present it here. Meteor activity on the left is in graph form for a 24 hour period. Data in the right hand box accumulates during the month and is colour based with blue signifying zero activity.
